How to Order Portrait

My name is Mark Leavitt. I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston and have been an Art Director and Watercolor Artist for over 30 years. I have always enjoyed doing watercolor portraits and "homes". I specialize in capturing the person or pet's spirit and personality.

My completed "hand-painted watercolor paintings" are created on 140lb Strathmore Watercolor paper and will include an acid free mat and foam core or board backing, ready to frame and no additional charge for mailing. All reference for commissioned artwork (person, pet or home), is taken from photo(s) that are furnished by you and will be returned to you with the completed painting. Note: If preferred, photos and references can be sent on-line, eliminating any returns.

Photography tips:

1) Even if you think you've got the perfect picture, don't be afraid to send me more. The more photos I have (4-6) the better "feel" I'll get of your chosen friend, family member or pet's personality.

2) The best way to take pictures of your pet is by using a zoom lense. That way he won't be aware that he is getting any attention and the photo will be a more "candid" shot. A sleeping pet would be the acception to this rule.

3) Give your pet something to do that may animate him and will create a more interesting picture. For example; give him a ball to play with or a bone to chew on and call his name on accasion and just click away with the camera. You'll be surprised at the results.

I can usually complete a commission within 3 weeks, depending on my workload. However, if you have a deadline that requires a quick turnaround, I will work with you and get it done!

Incidentally, under certain circumstances, the final price is negotiable.
